In September 2020, the UCE-Tanzania team conducted 14 outreaches in Tanganyika district, reaching 5,783 students with 3,827 students signing chastity cards! During one outreach, Headmaster Mr Massawe said “There is no one who is not touched by the UCE message. You are very detailed scientifically and socially. I think it’s because you have reached a number of students so you are familiar with human behavior and human health. I wish you could continue being here so that we can continue exploring more life hints from you. Students take this message seriously please. With UCE message you will do good in your studies…Thank you very much and welcome once more.’
UCE’s success in Tanganyika district can be traced back to when UCE-Tanzania conducted chastity outreaches to all secondary schools at Mpanda municipality in Tanzania during September 2019. Mpanda municipality reported that UCE brought positive impact and contributed to the improvement of national examination results. Grateful for the improved student behavior, the office of the Mpanda Municipal Council invited UCE back in August 2020 for an “Education Stakeholders week summit.” During that meeting, UCE was decided to be one of the organizations to encourage students to concentrate on their studies through abstaining and goal setting. Education officers from all districts set goals on how to perform better in national examinations for primary and secondary schools. That is how UCE ended up reaching the Tanganyika district in September 2020.
